A clockwork mechanism with rigorous precision, Bolero (1928) in Merola’s version, is told as a non-story, fantastic but possible, still pertinent to the real world. Thus Bolero becomes a metaphor for our existence, caught in the double tracks that each one experiences in the course of his or her life, between contrast and dialogue, seduction and disillusionment, surprise and bewilderment.

The new creation by Mauro Bigonzetti for the MM Contemporary Dance Company wants to be a tribute, a choral story, an all-round portrait of the Eighties, a decade that has now lost its temporal boundaries to become a symbol of an era.
