Irish born in 1973, DAMIEN RICE is one of the symbolic folksingers of the last 20 years. A nomadic and wanderer soul, who brings his music to the world by picking up the guitar and singing in the streets, he draws his inspiration from Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake. After the indie experience with Juniper and a three-year trip to Europe, which counts also a stay in Tuscany in 1999, the artist returns to Dublin and releases his debut album, “O”, recorded and self-produced at home. On the album RICE he plays guitar, piano, bass, clarinet and percussion and contains many life experiences, a collection of languid and mysterious ballads that sing of bittersweet feelings and passions. The singer-songwriter then released two more albums, “9” in 2006, which consecrated him as one of the reference songwriters in the world folk scene, and, after a period of silence and withdrawal into private life, “My Favorite Faded Fantasy”, released in 2014 with co-production Rick Rubin. Thanks to his unique and recognizable style, RICE prefers to improvise on stage without having a setlist, and still prefers to travel by sailboat rather than by tour bus, for this reason he is planning another sailing tour in the Mediterranean which will start in summer of 2023.
