The Solisti Veneti are celebrating their 65th anniversary. The programme includes three instrumental works by Venetian composers belonging to different eras and styles but united by their high level of knowledge of the technique, and relative orchestration, of string instruments: Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto in A minor for cello, strings and basso continuo, Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s Serenata for strings and Pino Donaggio’s Rimembranza for strings. Artistically and affectionately important is the presence in the hall of the well-known soundtrack composer, who, in addition to having dedicated no less than 12 compositions to I Solisti Veneti (recorded on two CDs in 2016 and 2019), was also part of the orchestra’s initial ensemble as a very young and virtuoso violinist. The programme continues with the performance of Bazzini’s Fantasia on La Traviata, a fitting tribute to La Fenice Theatre (La Traviata was written precisely for the Venetian theatre), and Giuseppe Verdi’s Quartet in E minor, in the author’s version for string orchestra.
